uh, well yan kuan is a supporting character there, but he was an important character here, as i think he sort of went bad here... and he has quite a few scenes here. forgive me for saying this. but Wang yan and Yan Kuan's pairing here didn't do it much for me, the didn't have that much chemistry, they look more like brother and sister here than lovers.

if you really want to see yan Kuan in a leading role, then see Da Ming Wang Chao. i dunno if its accurate with the actual history but the series is very good. it has a nice script and tight storytelling. and of course, dozens of close ups of Yan Kuan's face!

You don't have to apologize for sharing your honest views. I actually agree with you, even if my opinion is solely based on one picture. Wang Yan looks like Yan Kuan's older sister trying to teach her little brother a lesson.

I've heard such mixed reviews about DMWC. At first I was really interested in seeing it since it seemed to be a historical series kind of like KXDG or YZWC, but then some people told me it was really dull and ridiculous. Maybe someday I will give it a try.

Aside from the types of roles he usually takes on and his looks, what do you think about his acting skills?

i think he is a gifted actor, and a very cute one to boot!
he impressed me with his acting in DMWC, he is very good in there, i dunno bout others, but i highly enjoyed the serial.

Yay!!! A Yan Kuan thread...Finally, somebody notice him. He is handsome. I love him. I love him ever since I first lay eyes on him...So far, I only watch two of his series....Wu Dang and Taiji Prodigy. Can't wait to watch his new serie with Gao Yuan Yuan and Peter Ho.

Yeah, Yan Kuan does look a lot like HXM (I'm assuming you were referring to Huang Xiao Ming, right?) in the first pic. Do you not like HXM? The last pic is all right, but I can't say I like his shirt or hat.

Only the first half of QWLSM has been released so far, but definitely get it if your rental shop has it. Yan Kuan has appeared in every episode so far (I'm currently on 20) and there are plenty of closeups of his face. His eyes are electrifying. I really pity his character at this point, but hey, if the princess won't give him a chance, I will.

I first noticed him in Taiji Prodigy, thought he was decent in acting and looks was very appealing. i really liked him in taji up until he started falling in love with wan yang-- the story b/w him and her just went down the drain from there.

QWLSM = Qin Wang Li Shi Min
The English title is pretty much the same: Qin King Li Shi Min

The words you used to describe Yan Kuan's proportionate posture depicts his character Li Jian Cheng in QWLSM perfectly. In most series about Li Shi Min, Li Jian Cheng is portrayed as insecure, totally evil, and pretty much useless, but not in this one.

He's in the new Yang Warriors series starring Alec Su? I didn't see it listed amongst his credits.

Yeah, he doesn't look very Chinese in the first two pics, mainly because of the hair, plus he's got some Western features too. He kind of reminds me of an Asian Jude Law in the first one.
